Who I Am
Wanna cut to the goods? Here is a link to my Resume.
I was raised in a rural mountain setting in New Mexico. Access to the great outdoors, along with a degree of isolation, pushed me to use my imagination and tap into my creativity to entertain myself. Every day I explored the forests, becoming a different character in a new story. This led me to a love of capturing stories on film. As I made my way through high school, I took the option of choosing filmmaking over essays any chance I was allowed to do so. My friends were my actors in plays I directed and filmed. It became a favorite weekend activity for all of us.
I felt a calling to capture stories, wherever I had to travel to find them. This led me to wander across the country to the awe-inspiring state of Montana. I studied Filmmaking at the University of Montana, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Filmmaking. My sophomore year, the owner of a local film company, Ndigena, saw me in action, filming at a snowboarding event and hired me to do part time work with him. This has given me valuable experience directly in the field. My passion for film grew, specifically for the art of Cinematography. The camera, to me, is like a modern Bard’s instrument, a much-needed tool to effectively tell the stories that need to be told.
During my college years, I’ve filmed a number of projects, each offering diversity and experience in different venues. These include, two ambitious short films, a five-episode web series, and a short documentary film. Each offered unique challenges working outside in winter climates, day and night, and embracing the diversity of each individual and their remarkable personalities. I have remained open to each new experience, no matter the challenge, to gain as much knowledge as I can to add to my craft.
In addition to my work with Ndigena, I have done freelance work as a videographer, working on a wide array of projects from music videos to shooting and editing promotional films. Upon my graduation from college, I was hired as a camera operator and assistant camera on the feature film, ‘Sure of You.’ Since this I have been working in the camera department on various projects in the professional film world. I look forward to each new experience that comes my way in order to contribute my best effort and inventive eye to each story I encounter.
